A Circle Back to Prescott

I talk slightly about my life - I give hints...lol. Here’s the breakdown. I’ve been divorced twice, three kids, three different dads (whose first names all start with the letter P...and to top it off I have borne their only child!! That is a blog for a whole ‘nother time!!)

I’ve gone back and forth over the last three decades: it started with a move from Howell, MI to AZ way back in 1993. Then it was back to MI, then back to AZ where I lived in Prescott Valley and the Bradshaw Mountains.

These were the times of tent living as a young adult and working the youth camp scene such as Friendly Pines Camp and Pine Summit Camp :) - both up the beautiful Senator Highway out of downtown Prescott, AZ. Then it was on to - Nevada side ;) -South Lake Tahoe; Howell, MI; Roscommon, MI; Ash Fork, AZ; Prescott Valley, AZ; back to Ash Fork; Tempe, AZ; East Mesa, AZ (yes, there is a difference between East and West Mesa) ; North Bend, WA; East Mesa; Goodyear, AZ...and FINALLY circling back to Prescott in 2021, after the first landing nearly 30 years ago. Whew!

I cannot express the relief I feel to be back in Prescott. It feels like home. I have such a grateful heart that I have not just been fixed here, in Prescott, for the last 27 years. The appreciation would maybe not be so strong... To have not seen the growth explode here is a blessing... And after the last quarter of a century, I’ve been to so many places and done so much that now there is no other place I’d rather be. Especially with all of the COVID crazy, Prescott - in all its beauty, history, and down-to-earth friendliness - is a sigh of relief. Because of my joy for being back, I am in no hurry and am the slowpoke driving Whiskey Row on a Monday morning on my way to Bend Hot Yoga.

I’m also in no hurry to get my 6-year-old from his micro-school a short way out of town near Granite Mountain. And with the many things to do in Prescott such as hit up the Bird Cage downtown and listen to an Allman Brothers or Grateful Dead cover band, yep, I’m okay with that. The entire area has so much to offer - kayaking on beautiful Watson Lake or hiking Thumb Butte, a cold microbrew at the Prescott Brewing Company, steaks at Murphy’s... Again, I am very okay :) I, we, (Myia, wee-man James, and I) are so happy to be back in this little community. The locals would argue that it isn’t little anymore, they call it California(sorry Cali), but it still is comparatively small, and everywhere, every single town I’ve lived in over the last 27 years is growing. Change is constant. The little house we live in in the historic district of Prescott… Our little home built in 1923 has certainly seen some change.

Who we are, In One’s Element, fit in very well here. Because we are pretty grounded, normal people, the locals have been loving us. We are not wolves in sheep’s clothing trying to put on a magic act, but rather normal people who understand how to channel and move energy, can understand how the psyche can get in the way of a peaceful mind and heart, and offer a breath of fresh air to many who are looking for help, or perhaps just a little nudge on their path of breaking free from the stress that comes from all angles. Our business does not revolve around seeing clients every other week for the rest of their lives but rather look to teach how to heal their own bodies, hearts, and spirits themselves instead of constantly relying on someone else to do it for them. For you are your own healer! It’s nice to have help during the downtimes, but we feel it is extremely important for people to understand how they can make themselves feel better on their own and then reach out to us during the times of dire straits for a little reboot once a month or so. We offer nutritional aid, Reiki, Reiki massage, hypnotherapy, Reiki with Yin and/or Yoga Nidra, and shamanic journey sessions. We also offer and ask our regular clients to please take at minimal our Reiki I certification class and learn for themselves that they are just as much of a healer as we are. For those who are coming in for a visit, we have all the sessions mentioned above and more, plus ongoing classes involving Reiki and Guided Imagery, weekend healing workshops, and our ongoing Reiki certification courses. Enjoy Prescott! Take care of her while you're here, whether it's for a lifetime or a weekend. She's a special place:)
